Black Coffee
Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo, popularly known by his stage name Black Coffee, is a prominent South African DJ, record producer, and songwriter. Born on March 11, 1976, in Durban, South Africa, he grew up in a musical family, which greatly influenced his passion for music.
Black Coffee’s music style is a unique blend of deep house, afro-house, and world music that incorporates traditional African rhythms. He has worked with a variety of renowned musicians, including Bucie, Hugh Masekela, and Alicia Keys.
In 2005, Black Coffee founded his own record label named Soulistic Music, which has since become one of the most successful labels in South Africa. He released his debut self-titled album “Black Coffee” in 2005, which featured elements of R&B and jazz, and received critical acclaim. Since then, he has released several other albums, including “Africa Rising,” “Home Brewed,” and “Subconsciously.”
Throughout his career, Black Coffee has won numerous awards, including the Best International Act at the 2016 BET Awards. He has also performed in major music festivals and clubs across the world, such as Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Hi Ibiza. His music has become a global phenomenon and has inspired many young artists.
